Title 1

Title I is a federal education program that provides extra funding to schools with higher numbers of students from low income families. Its purpose is to make sure all students receive a high-quality education and the support they need to succeed.

Title I helps schools by:

  • Providing extra reading and math support

  • Offering small-group instruction and tutoring

  • Supporting teachers with training and resources

  • Strengthening family and school partnerships

  • Closing learning gaps and promote equity

Schools may use Title I funds to:

  • Offer small-group instruction or tutoring

  • Provide reading and math intervention programs

  • Purchase learning materials and technology

  • Support family engagement activities

  • Provide professional learning for teachers

Each school creates a plan based on student needs and reviews it regularly.

Annual Meeting

The annual Title I Stakeholder Meeting for the 2026-27 school year will be held within the first month of the school year. Stay tuned for updates.

Parents Right to Know

As a parent and family member of a student in Macon County Schools and part of our beginning of each school year notifications, you have the right to know about the following:

  1. Professional qualifications and licensing criteria of the teachers who instruct your child.

  2. Information regarding student participation in mandatory state or local testing and affiliated policies.

  3. Language instruction and English learner identification protocols and services, and our assurance.

  4. Such information will be in an understandable language and accessible format. 

Such requirements are for all PSUs that receive Title I funds and allows you to request such information and receive a response in a timely manner. Below are additional details about the Parents Right To Know information.
