This is Goria Painter, the Assistant Principal at Iotla Valley Elementary. I am calling to share some important announcements for this week.
Friday, May 2nd, we are celebrating our cafeteria staff. It is Lunch Hero Day.
Teacher Appreciation Week is next week. May 5th - 9th. Look for a special flyer on our school website and social media page to learn more about how your child can celebrate this special week.
Our PTO is hosting a lunch for our Teachers on Tuesday, May 6th. PTO is seeking donations of various items to support this meal. There is a Sign Up Genius posted if you would like to help. Items need to be brought in next Monday. If you have trouble accessing the signup online, and would like to help. Our school will host a Buy One, Get One (BOGO) Book Fair from May 5 to 9.
Awards Ceremonies are right around the corner. May 21st at 10:00, Pre-Ks will be hosted in the library. At 1:30, our 4th Grade will be hosted in the gymnasium. On May 22nd at 8:30 will be our 3rd and 2nd Graders, 11:00 our 1st Grade, and 1:00, Kindergarten. May 15th at 1:30, our PAWs Pack will have its awards ceremony.
3rd and 4th Graders will take their End-of-Grade Reading test on May 12th and their Math test on May 14th.
May 16th is our Field Day.
May 23rd is our last day of school, and it is an early release day.

The end-of-year awards ceremonies for grades 3, 2, 1, and Kindergarten will be held on May 22nd. The ceremonies will begin for 3rd and 2nd grade at 8:30 a.m., 1st grade at 11:00 a.m., and Kindergarten at 1:00 p.m.
The 4th Grade Awards Ceremony will be held on May 21st at 1:30 PM in the gymnasium.
Week 32 4/21 - 4/25

Tomorrow, Monday the 21st, there will be no school for students. This is Kindergarten registration.
All existing students must complete registration for the 25-26 school year, and are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Directions can be found on our school website or social media page.
Friday is Hat Day. Students can wear a hat for $1.00. Students can always show their school spirit by wearing an IVE T-shirt.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our animal food drive for AARC! The Student Lighthouse Team took on this project, and we are so proud of them. A special shout out to Miss Gonzalez's class for donating the most!
IVE's talented music teacher, Ms. Parham, and students put on the best Finding Nemo Kids production! We are grateful for all the hard work and dedication Ms. Parham puts into creating a memorable experience for all! Our students are exceptionally talented. Bravo!!!
Week 31 4/14 - 4/18
This is Goria Painter, the Assistant Principal at Iotla Valley Elementary. I am calling to share some important announcements for this week.
The Theater Arts Club will meet after school on Monday until 5:00 p.m. On Tuesday, students will stay after school to practice until it is time for the performance.
Enjoy Finding Nemo Kids, presented by IVE Theater Arts Club, on April 15th at 6:00 p.m. or April 16th at 9:00 a.m. Adult tickets are $4.00 each.
There is no school for students on Friday, April 18th, or Monday, April 21st.
Monday, April 21st, is Kindergarten Registration. Parents, if you have a child registered for kindergarten, please make sure you have completed the online registration information before your appointment.
Attendance Matters: End-of-year assessments start the week of the 21st. It's crucial for your student(s) to attend school every day and arrive on time. This will be some of the final assessments for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade before the school year concludes. Students in 3rd and 4th grades will also take part in these end-of-year assessments, along with the End of Grade assessments in May.

Good morning! Chick-fil-A cookies will be ready for parent pick up this afternoon. If you are unable to make it today, cookies can be picked up tomorrow or they will be sent home with the student.
Correction- the PTO's Egg Hunt is $5 per child. It is not free as stated in the all call yesterday. Sorry for the confusion.
Bus 156 will not run this afternoon. Also, please make plans to bring your student(s) to school tomorrow morning. We have not received verification of the bus running its route. More information will be provided once we receive notification. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Welcome back from break. We hope everyone is well rested and ready for the last seven weeks of school.
The Theater Arts Club will meet after school, Monday through Thursday until 5:00 p.m.
3rd and 4th graders will take their NC Check Ins. Reading on Wednesday and Math on Friday.
The PTO Egg Hunt will take place this Friday at 7:00 p.m. This event is free for families. We would greatly appreciate your donations of candy, stickers, or items for egg stuffing!
Attendance Matters: When numerous students are frequently absent, it hampers the instructional pace for their peers, who are left waiting as the teacher reviews material for those who missed class. This situation complicates the learning process for students and teaching for educators.

Today, on National Librarian Day, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. McConnell, our amazing school librarian at Iotla Valley Elementary. Her dedication to fostering a love of reading and her unwavering support for both students and staff make our school library a warm and welcoming place. Ms. McConnell’s enthusiasm, creativity, and tireless efforts inspire us all to explore new worlds through books.
